The Wi-Fi Forum of South Africa, a voluntary industry body comprising operators, service providers, technology providers and associated parties was launched at AfricaCom in Cape Town on the 13th of November 2013. Wi-Fi Forum SA aims to accelerate the adoption of high-speed, reliable and cost- effective broadband services in South Africa.
Chairman Andile Ngcaba said “The mission of this organisation is to create a collaborative and self-regulating body that promotes the effective utilisation of Wi-Fi technologies in the delivery of ubiquitous, interoperable and seamless connectivity in South Africa”.
Wi-Fi Forum SA intends to provide an effective collaboration and advocacy body for the Wi-Fi industry stakeholders. Thereby providing an effective mechanism for the self- regulation of the Wi-Fi industry to ensure adherence to international Wi-Fi agreements, standards, guidelines and practices and provide input to regulatory processes that would impact on the Wi-Fi community.
